At Angelica’s surprise birthday party organized by her close friends and some relatives, Derek surprised the actress by giving her an orange Hermes bag — apparently one of the celebrant’s most ardent wish.

So, how did Derek figure out what she wanted to receive for her birthday?

According to Angelica, it was she who unwittingly informed the actor.

“Nagtatanong na siya, matagal na, kung ano ang gusto kong gift.”

Derek, who connived with their friends to keep it a secret until the last minute, had a ready script which he acted out at the party venue.

Angelica said: “Sa party, sabi niya ‘Ganda ng bag mo, ha!’ kasi nga may dala akong bag. [Tapos] sabi niya, ‘Mas maganda ‘yung dala kong bag!’ [and then] pinakita niya sa akin.

“Inaasar pa nga nila ako na binebenta sa akin ‘yong bag. Tapos naiyak na ako. Happy ako talaga,” an overjoyed Angelica shared.

Angelica admits she did not see herself owning the expensive item this early.

When asked if the couple experienced such situation, Angelica and Derek replied, “Ayaw namin ng ganyang sitwasyon. Buti na lang right love at the right time kami (laughs).”

This Sunday, a story of a woman named Tammy (Angelica) who’s seemingly happy with her life as a career woman suddenly knocks her head off and starts to realize that she has so much success in her hands yet she has no one to share it with. In her encounter with Ralph (Derek Ramsay), love will blossom between the two. However, a big revelation will alter their relationship.

Panganiban said she trusts Ramsay enough to conduct himself well should any project with Barretto push through.

“Wala naman akong nararamdaman tungkol doon. Okay lang sa akin ‘yon kung mag-trabaho sila. Wala naman pinaparamdam sa akin si Derek na kahit ano, kung hindi ‘yong security sa kanya,” Panganiban said.

Barretto publicly stated that she admired Ramsay, who has been dating Panganiban for over 3 years, and that she wants him to be “her leading man.”

“I like to work with him. He doesn’t look so young, (kasi) ayaw ko ng masyadong young ang leading man ko,” Barretto said in prior interviews.

Kapamilya celebrities responded to the call for action in the coming 2010 elections by becoming active citizens in a special voter registration mounted by ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation in partnership with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

“The special voter registration aims to encourage the people to register and exercise their right to suffrage,” said Bong Osorio, Head of ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Division.

This is actually not the first time that the hunky actor has been admired for his well-sculpted body. However, he said, this is something that he’ll never get used to.

“I don’t know what to say when you say things like that, I get all shy. It’s a nice feeling and I still don’t understand why. It’s just something that I think I’ll never get used to. Just like when I go to the mall and fans are there screaming and trying to get my attention. I still don’t know why they do that but, you know, it’s really nice,” Derek told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after the press launch of his endorsement this afternoon, at Felix Restaurant, Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.

The actor was just grateful that he has a good metabolism, which he credits for his active lifestyle.

He stated, “I’m just really comfortable with myself. I don’t go to the gym to make my body look better. I play sport and I enjoy it. Ever since I was a little boy, I was exposed to competitive sports kaya naging ganito ako.”

“Napansin ko na may dalawang lalaki na nakaupo lang, pero wala akong nakitang bote na parang umiinom sila,” she said. The car was undamaged so Angelica did not report the incident to the police. Looking back, she is thankful that some of her car windows are tinted.

“‘Yung gilid, tinted (pero) ‘yung harap, hindi. Feeling ko nga hindi nila ako nakilala. Napansin lang siguro nila na mag-isa ako kaya malakas ang loob nila.”

Angelica told her boyfriend Derek Ramsey what happened. She added that should she find herself in the same situation later, she will not leave her car to face the perpetrators.

Angelica Panganiban will be paired with Diether Ocampo. Completing the main cast are Jake Cuenca and Shaina Magdayao who will play the role of “Maribel dela Fuente.”

The role of “Rubi” was first offered to Kristine Hermosa but the star of “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” declined.
